Montana Creek Campground"...Montana Creek...Fathers and sons,
as well as whole families, walk the gravel road carrying stout rods and heavy
tackle. Most also have a king salmon or two in tow as they return from the
front lines. Several are the size of a man's leg...This is what we've come
for...and, as every weekend fisherman knows, the mouth of Montana Creek is
almost a sure thing." "I just spent 12 days fishing for Kings
and caught 1 to 2 per day. In one day I caught and released 10 kings from 25 to
45 lbs. with the largest 47 lbs. The 55 lb King on your website was my largest
last year. Thanks to Bert and his wife for morning cup of coffee at the store.
I'll be back July 4th weekend." "We have been at Montana Creek for 2
days now. I have caught 2 silvers and 2 pinks, but I only went fishing for
30 minutes the day we got here and 30 minutes this morning! We usually get
up at 5 a.m. to walk to the mouth of the creek to go catch our daily
limit. We have been catching them on roe, pixies, and spinners." "I remember camping with you a couple
of years ago and really enjoyed it...the fish were literally jumping out of the
water last time I was there..." "One of the top road-accessible
salmon/trout streams in Southcentral...King salmon to 60 or 70 pounds, sometimes
even more, are possible, with a good number of fish in the 40-pound range."
"We have been coming to Montana Creek Campground
for 10 years now. Every year something new is going on there. We went from
just spending a weekend there to spending 2 weeks at a time. We meet new
people every year from all over the states and countries. The fishing is
great. All around, a wonderful place. Keep it up."
- Jerry and Nena Ballek, North Pole
"My spouse, son, and I were up by Montana Creek on July 30 and 31. We enjoyed our fishing at the creek by your campground. We also appreciated the hospitality of the folks who manned the store...My son...caught three large chum salmon...If we visit Alaska next summer, we'll probably stop by your campground again. Have a nice week. Thank you." - Larry Chun, Kailua, Hawaii "Dear friends, thank you for your
meaningful Christmas letter. We have such good memories of our time at
Montana Creek and look forward to being there - at the end of the road -
again! Thanks and peace to you all." "Just ran across somebody [who] said
they had a terrific time earlier this summer staying at your campground and
fishing the creek." “You have a beautiful facility. We have enjoyed using it when we have gone fishing.
It has become our favorite place. We
appreciate a nice clean place to stop.” "It was sure nice to get out of town for the first time all year. My 5-year old daughter wanted to come to her favorite place to camp...I wanted to say thank you for the Christmas card you send every year. I really appreciate it every year. See you in a few weeks." - Paul and Gayle Schroeder, Anchorage "The sites were great! The
fishing was awesome. Thanks for your friendly ways and faces!" "We were there (for the second time) in
August, and we really enjoyed the campground. It was very nice and we
liked being right on the creek. We had a great time with friends and like
your brochure says you meet very nice people there. We met a couple from
Hawaii and taught them how to fillet a fish. They were great too!!
Can't wait to get back to your campground."
"We appreciate your
hard work at Montana Creek and thank you again for keeping us updated on
things at the Campground. Good luck on the work ahead of you cleaning up
the grounds and getting the place ready to put away for the winter."
- Dan and Cindy Squier, Springfield, Virginia "Hello...Hope all goes well at the Montana campgrounds.
I was there last year...with my family. We enjoyed the time there and in
Talkeetna. I'll be going to Alaska this season...Hope to see you again in late
July...I'll spend...a week in your lovely state." "Thanks for keeping us posted with your newsletters. My
family and I really would love to come to Montana Creek Campground this coming
weekend...and just enjoy the Campground over Father's Day. Thanks so
much." "Montana Creek is such a wonderful place to go. Keep up
the good work. My prayers are with you." "Thank you for letting us stay at your
campground and for taking us fishing." "Thanks for your outstanding efforts in
keeping Montana Creek open and in great shape for the public." "Thank you for all the wonderful
memories we have from your campground the last 4 years." "Our family can't thank you enough for
the special gift of time...Your kindness made our short visit a wonderful
one...Your campground is a pretty special place." "Thank you for your kindness and help
this summer. We will hope to be back next year, camping there at Montana
Creek Campground." "We enjoyed your campground last
summer. What a beautiful spot!" "I enjoyed my stay at your campground,
it was a very nice place." “Great to be back with you!!! Have a great summer!” "We were up there last weekend and it
was so wonderful, we want to head back...[the campsites] were all great!" "Thank you for all the Christmas cards,
it's fun, and thank you for taking good care of the park." "Thank
you for the lovely Christmas letter, my family and I enjoyed it very much...and
loved the beautiful campground!" "I had the best time at your
campground. Hope to be back this summer." "We look forward to staying at your
campground as we were recommended to it by a friend here in Florida." "Enjoying your campground and will be
there this next summer." "Your campground was highly recommended
to us." "We have heard you are an excellent place to camp and fish and would love to spend this holiday with you." - Sheryl Barry, email "Can you accommodate us? It is
our first time and Dan and Sue have told us how much they love your
campground!" "Thank you for the family type service
last year...hopefully we can come up often this year...You have the best camp
ground around and you and your husband make us feel so welcome." "Mike and I drove up there from
Anchorage...to fish for a few hours. He told me how much he really likes
it there and that he has seen Moose and Bear near there. That particular
day, we didn't catch anything, but the water was so clear, we could see the fish
in the water." "Thanks for running a great
campground." "My friend and I spent 3 very memorable
days in the Talkeetna area and the fishermen (women) who made us feel at home
made our stay very memorable. I caught my first king salmon thanks to the fact
that people from Alaska were nice enough to invite us to go fishing with
them...we were also very grateful for the way that the folks at Montana
Creek treated us as well. My photo is on your wall. I caught a 45 lb.
king." "Stopped in with my mom and aunt from
N.Y. Very sorry to have missed you! It's a beautiful
campground!" "We stayed with you in 06 and loved
your campground and can't wait to come back." "...my family and I will be using the
campground plenty this year. We like your down to heart attitude and the
friendship." "I'm glad to be returning to my
family's favorite place to stay!" "We've stayed with you twice before and
enjoyed each visit." "We stayed at the Montana Creek
Campground. I do have to say that is the NICEST place, the owner is VERY up on
problems...Any problems and the owner is right on top of it. Bathrooms
(outhouses) are very clean and don't stink, I was incredibly impressed. Would
stay there again in a heartbeat. They will kick problem campers out in a
heartbeat if they don't follow the rules. The attendant passes through the
campground several times per day checking on things and they have someone there
at night too most times." “You have a
nice place here. We have enjoyed
your state so far.” "Your campsite looks so relaxing and
serene I can't pass it up." “Nicely maintained campsite! Hope the fishing is
good." “You have a very nice and clean campground!!” "Thank you for such a clean
campground. Keep up the great work." "Easy access and clean bathrooms!
What more could we ask for?! Thank you." “Campground looks good!” – Teresa Braxton, Anchorage
