It's just about that time of year many of us dread (we'll excuse the skiers and dog-mushers); the leaves have started to change, it's cooling off and the fishing will soon be over. We will be closing after Memorial Day weekend and fishing will start to drop off around the same time. Silvers are still in the water and still tasty. Book online now and get yours!
Special update on camp activities: We have opened a Horseshoe pit behind the Tackle Cache! Inquire in store and have a blast throwing shoes!

Last week's Kids Humpy Derby was a great success. Special thanks to the Big Lake Lion's Club for putting that together. Silver fishing has been good at the mouth of the creek for the last few days and there are still plenty of Pinks and Chums to be had. There are only a few weeks of Summer left so best to get that final camping trip in while you can. For those of you who may not know we have a special deal on camping Mon.-Thurs. Stay two nights and get one free. Labor day is coming up fast and those campsites are going faster so book online today and avoid the last minute rush.
On a greener note we at Montana Creek Campground have started an aluminum recycling program. Check with the Tackle Cache for details on check-in.
Let's end this post with a fish joke.
What is the relationship between a tuna, a piano, and a tub of glue?
You can tuna piano but you can't tune a fish.
What about the tub of glue you say?
I knew you'd get stuck there.

Silvers have started arriving in Montana Creek. They are hitting on blue and green lures. For you fly fishermen, make sure you've got some blue and green leeches as well as some flesh pattern flies. For the spin casters among us, size 4 vibrax and pixees. We have also seen success with a simple corky and yarn rig. More information on this set-up is available in our camp store. Also in the creek are some Humpies and Chums in addition to the ever present Rainbow Trout. As always, the Trout fishing is catch-and-release only. The limits on salmon are 3 per day/3 in possesion only 2 of which may be Silvers. There are still kings in the creek as well, though fishing for them is off-limits. If there are any accidental catches the fish are to remain in the water and be released immediately. To tell the difference between a King and a Silver the best thing to do is check the gums. Silvers will have white gums while kings will have black. Any silvers removed from the water MUST BE KEPT. Come and see us for your tackle and camping needs. We're also happy to answer any questions on the best places/techniques for fishing. Hope to see you soon!
