Silvers have started arriving in Montana Creek. They are hitting on blue and green lures. For you fly fishermen, make sure you've got some blue and green leeches as well as some flesh pattern flies. For the spin casters among us, size 4 vibrax and pixees. We have also seen success with a simple corky and yarn rig. More information on this set-up is available in our camp store. Also in the creek are some Humpies and Chums in addition to the ever present Rainbow Trout. As always, the Trout fishing is catch-and-release only. The limits on salmon are 3 per day/3 in possesion only 2 of which may be Silvers. There are still kings in the creek as well, though fishing for them is off-limits. If there are any accidental catches the fish are to remain in the water and be released immediately. To tell the difference between a King and a Silver the best thing to do is check the gums. Silvers will have white gums while kings will have black. Any silvers removed from the water MUST BE KEPT. Come and see us for your tackle and camping needs. We're also happy to answer any questions on the best places/techniques for fishing. Hope to see you soon!

Trout Fishing is available just a little way upstream from the campground. You must be above the ADF&G Weir. It is catch-and-release only. The water is cool, and clear and the trout fishing is very good. They have been hitting on surface flies that resemble small insects in calmer pools and egg patterns. Lakes nearby offer fishing for both rainbow trout and land-locked salmon. Christiansen lake is particularly good. Directions available in store along with all your tackle needs. Salmon Fishing re-opens on the 14th of July for the silver salmon run.
Our camp store also has everything you need to make smore's, roast hot dogs, and have a good time camping. There is Wi-fi available by the store as well for those e-mails and facebook posts that just can't wait for when you get home. Our friendly staff will be happy to point you in the direction of some local hiking trails and fishing holes as well as help you with understanding those crazy complicated fishing regulations.
The state has lifted its fire ban for now and campfires/charcoal grills are once again allowed here in the campground provided you keep a careful eye on things and don't let those fires get out of hand, remember a small fire is better for the roasting of hot dogs and marshmallows.
Our campground is very pet and kid friendly provided you have them on a leash and clean up after them. Same goes for the pets ;) . There are life jackets available for use free of charge to keep the kiddos safe while near the water and plenty of trails for bikes complete with a tunnel under the highway to allow safe access to more trails nearby.
Book now and make your next camping holiday a memorable one!

John caught a nice fat King (Chinook) Salmon by the mouth of Montana Creek!
The mighty King Salmon (Chinook) are beginning to show up near the mouth Montana Creek at the confluence with Susitna. River. They were catching them on green and blue “corkies” with chartreuse yarn over the weekend. Remember it is catch and release for Kings. Recommend that anglers to remove the barb to protect from damaging the salmon and it is a lot easier to release. Water is down and starting to flow clear from spring runoff. Rainbows are feeding on top water insects.
Fishing license and gear at the Tackle Cache store along with information and other tackle and grocery supplies. Don't forget those King Salmon Stamps!
